Cindy Zimmermann has been selected as the recipient of the 2020 Clearview Star Award.
The Clearview Star Award recognizes staff and community members who have made significant contributions to the Clearview school communities through volunteerism, as a community partner, or supported our schools at the school community level.
A former Wm E Hay graduate, Zimmerman has gone on to pursue her own seamstress business in the community of Stettler.
She also raised her two sons in Clearview Public Schools and was an active and supportive parent.
Recently, Zimmerman went back to further her education in an online teacher training program, allowing her to stay in the Stettler community.
She has also gone with Teachers Across Borders to share her talents for a semester in Vietnam.
Zimmerman has been a volunteer at Stettler Elementary School, supporting emergent readers in younger grades with reading.
She was a member of the Alberta Reads reading team at the school. Ms. Zimmermann also did a practicum at SES, and went above and beyond dedicating extra hours to the school.
As well, she took on the ambitious project of having students design and sew a quilt which was presented to an immigrant family in Stettler.
Following her practicum, she stayed on as a weekly volunteer to complete a structured literacy program with students she had seen during her practicum, demonstrating her commitment to the well being and success of Clearview students.
Zimmerman has also volunteered her time with Junior Achievement sharing the expertise she learned as a successful business person.
Supporting the literacy of our students is so very fundamental to their future success.
