Wright, Doreen Valeria

Doreen Valeria Wright was born on April 18, 1930 in Hanna. She was the fifth child born to George Hugh Wright and Elizabeth Warren Cattanach.
She grew up on the family farm in the Garden Plain District and attended the Netherby School.
That is where she met Robert John Rehill and they were married on July 7, 1950 at the Hanna United Church.
They lived on the Rehill Family farm with Robert’s mother and brother Carl. She was very much welcomed into the Rehill’s large family.
The next years were busy ones with farming and the starting of their own family.
Kenneth William was born March 22, 1952 and John James October 15, 1954.
The boys were very busy with 4-H and curling, the house was always full.
Robert and Doreen moved to town in November of 1978 (Mom’s idea not Dad’s).
Ken married Peggy in 1983, along with Peggy came Coby and she was very happy to have a grandchild. Robin Lynn was born Dec. 13, 1983 and quickly became the apple of her eye. Then Tanya Rae came along on July 7, 1988 and her life was full – three grandchildren.
Dad passed away in 1992 and Mom had to find things to keep her busy. (The girls helped with that a lot) Jack married Rosanne in 2004 and along with Rosanne came Michael, Michelle, Mandy and Misty.
Now she was extremely happy — more grandchildren. Then came the great-grandchildren —she was over the moon. Mom was so proud and happy with all her family!!!
Mom sold her house and moved to a duplex in 1998, then to the Lodge in 2011 and the nursing home in 2017.
Mom had always worked the Rummage Sales since 1961 and in 1983 she became a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Mom was a lifetime member of the Dundee W.I. and the Garden Plains Community.
Mom and Dad worked tirelessly on the Hanna North Book. In 1980 she started work with the Home Care Program and looked after Gertrude Faubin and, of course, Mom adopted their family as well.
Mom and Dad were members in the Alberta Pioneer Association of Hanna & District. They worked very hard to make the Hanna Museum a success. Mom loved her community and family.
Doreen passed away peacefully on July 26, 2017.
She is survived by her sons Kenneth William (Peggy)- Coby (Angela) Bailey, Robin Lynn Rehill, Tanya Rae (Cameron) Dmytryshyn and Parker. John James (Rosanne)- Michael (Marylyn)Werbitski , Michelle (Darrell) McCarthy and Liam and Sophie, Mandy (Jason) Carlson and Kyler, Ryker and Ryzen, Misty (Shawn) Kisinger and Daygan, Hannah and Jake. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
Doreen is predeceased by her parents, husband Robert John, siblings Margaret (Harry) Nelsen, Bill (Hazel) Wright, Lorne (Betty) Wright, Edwin (Stella) Wright and Georgean (Richard) Mohl; sisters-in-law Elsie (Ben) Weller and Dorothy (Albert) Finkbiner, Annie Greenwood, Lena Lucas, brothers-in-law Carl Rehill, Bill Rehill, Clarence Rehill and Roy Dooley.
A Service of Remembrance was held on Mon., July 31, 1:30 p.m. at the Hanna Alliance Church.
Internment took place at the Netherby Cemetery prior to the service.
