Woman shot after verbal altercation

A middle aged woman was shot in the upper arm on July 22 in Bassano, AB.
At around 9 p.m. on July 22 Bassano RCMP received the call that a woman had been shot at a rural residence approximately three kilometres east of the Town of Bassano.
The victim was allegedly shot by another middle aged woman after the two women were involved in a verbal altercation. Alcohol was a factor.
The suspect fled the scene on foot after the shooting.
The victim was transported to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary where she was treated for her injury and later released.
The RCMP Emergency Response Team and RCMP Police Dog Service were dispatched to the scene and a search for the suspect was initiated.
At approximately 5 a.m. on July 23 the suspect was located in a residence close to where the shooting took place and was taken into custody by Emergency Response Members.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. The names of the victim and suspect are not being released at this time.
