Village of Alix is working with the Boomtown Trail Society to help restructure and revive the group.
“We may possibly change the name,” said Alix Coun. Jody Widmann at Alix’s regular meeting March 2.
“We are trying to brainstorm and come up with a new name over the next few months to a year and look at its bylaws.”
In particular, Coun. Widmann said they are considering changing the group’s bylaws so that community representatives would be able to vote.
“We want to make it so that everybody can participate. Whoever is the representative from the community would have some say and a vote.”
Coun. Widmann added that the society is also considering shifting its focus to tourism. Currently, the Boomtown Trail Society puts on skits featuring colourful characters from the past to bring history to life.
The next meeting is in April.
