Dear Editor,
To start with, when it comes to tipping at restaurants, I didn’t hire you to bring food to my table, so why should I pay you?
I worked for 55 years, 40 of them as an auto mechanic. I don’t ever remember getting a tip.
I sure would have liked to add 30 per cent to your bill! I’m sure my boss would have liked it to as well!
Putting a part on your car is not much different than you putting a plate of food on my table.
The only thing that came close to a tip was some time a customer would bring a bottle of whiskey in at Christmas and give us a drink.
In saying all of the above, I don’t mind givng a little extra for ‘good, friendly’ service and the person is pleasant.
