Two arrested, charged after RCMP locate $9,600 worth of stolen copper wire at rural Trochu residence

Three Hills RCMP attended a rural property near Trochu, Alberta, to serve court documents on May 21, 2021.

While on the property, police located a female who was wanted inside the residence.

During the warrant apprehension, police located a large amount of stolen copper wire in a bedroom.

Police entered into a stolen property investigation and a search warrant was completed and granted.

Three Hills RCMP, with the assistance of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, executed the search warrant and located a large quantity of stolen copper wire in the residence and in an outbuilding on the property.

A male was also located hiding in a travel trailer and arrested without incident.

The total weight of the seizure was 2100 lbs with an approximated value of $9,600.

George Jones (43) and Trina Langevin (42) from Red Deer have been charged with Trafficking property obtained by crime under $5,000; Possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking; Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both Jones and Langevin are scheduled to appear at Drumheller Provincial Court on June 18, 2021.
