The Town of Trochu is pleased to announce they have now received written permission from the Alberta Minister of Municipal Affairs along with a Ministerial Order to facilitate capital project borrowing and permit the Town of Trochu through the Trochu Housing Corporation (THC) to proceed with the Trochu Seniors Supportive Living Facility Project.
This borrowing, along with Provincial Capital Grants from Alberta Health and Alberta Seniors, Community and Social Services, as well as deposits from Life Lease Residents, will fully fund this capital project.
“Our Trochu community came together well over a decade ago with a resolve to keep our seniors and families together here in Trochu.
“The announcement of this borrowing permission and Ministerial Order brings us one step closer to getting this capital project started this Fall,” said Mayor Barry Kletke, Town of Trochu.
The next steps are for the Town of Trochu to complete a borrowing bylaw to fund the project through completion in mid-2027.
Many thanks are due for the continuing support to all those involved. Of special note are seniors in Trochu and the surrounding area and the Trochu Seniors’ Housing Society, who requested the THC Board of Directors consider a response to their housing and care needs.
Also, a huge thank you to our Kneehill County Council, the Board and Management of Covenant Health and St. Mary’s Foundation for their invaluable partnership and support in this important Community project. We also extend a huge thank you to our MLA Nathan Cooper for his unwavering support and advocacy leading to our successful grant application.
The Trochu Housing Corporation is committed to the purpose of developing a project for additional access to affordable seniors’ supportive living accommodations, with housing options and services within Trochu to serve all residents of Kneehill County as well as residents of surrounding areas.
Trochu Housing Corporation (THC) is committed to enhancing the lives of seniors in our community. THC is a Canada Not-For-Profit organization wholly owned by the Town of Trochu, Alta.
