The Three Hills and District Palliative Care Society likes to see their compassionate thoughts grow into reality.

Using their annual Tree of Hope campaign, the 10 committee volunteers, with retired occupational therapist Heather Hansen at the steering wheel, raised over $7,500 this season to purchase two self-medicating pain-relief pumps.

One is for the Three Hills Health Centre, the other is for Linden’s Westview Care Community.

Campaign donors can have the name of a deceased loved one put on a ceramic tree decoration which is added to a stylized Christmas tree located in the Three Hills Health Centre’s lobby.

The tree, with its more than 100 memorial decorations, is on display for December and January each year.

Fundraising separate from the Tree of Hope campaign in 2018 saw society funds going to gazebo upgrades, flower bed enhancements, palliative care room bedding, a hide-a-bed chair, and paying registration fees for health care workers and volunteers taking palliative care courses.
