Traffic stop at Buffalo Lake

Written by ECA Review

A joint forces operation in the area of Buffalo Lake on March 5 conducted by Bashaw RCMP along with Backfields and Wetaskiwin RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit, Alberta Fish and Wildlife, and County Peace Officers from Stettler, Lacombe and Camrose.

Officers set up check stops at entry points to the lake and checked for a variety of items including impaired driving, vehicle safety, and fisheries violations.

Officers conducted 211 Mandatory Alcohol Screening tests.

As a result of their enforcement efforts officers issued eight violations under the Traffic Safety Act with approximately 15 warnings.

There were also four violations under the Alberta Fisheries Act and Regulations and six violations under the Gaming Liquor and Cannabis Act.

“Joint operations between partner agencies allow officers to bring different specialties to one location and increase overall safety through education and enforcement efforts,” said Cpl. Grant Glacier of the Bashaw RCMP.
