Haunted House

Reece Marchand and Samantha Deering stand by one of their frightful creations in advance of the Czar haunted house.

As Halloween quickly draws closer to our little corner of the Municipal District of Provost local people are full of excitement and ready to get spooked at the Czar haunted house, happening the evenings of October 31 (Halloween) and November 1 at the Skating Rink in Czar.
Local Hugenden Public School students and prominent citizens of the Czar area – Reece Marchand and Samantha Deering – were in charge of starting up and running this local haunted house.
Reece says Czar local, Tracy Deering did the organizing of the haunted house for years. This year she decided to ask if her daughter Samantha and local boy Reece wanted to do the organizing.  The answer was an enthusiastic yes!
“The only admission is a donation,” says Reece, “the donations go towards future haunted houses, not towards any specific organizations.”
This haunted house is one of the main events looked forward to in the fall. The first haunted house occurred in 2000.
Organizers Samantha and Reece invite everyone to come check out their creations. They would like as many people as possible to that this year’s haunted house can be successful.
This spooktacularly awesome haunted house is suitable for all ages.  For those who scare easily or are fainthearted, Reece recommends to come early when the lights are still on.  For those who love to be frightened and scared out of their wits, the lights will go out at 6:30 pm and will stay that way until closing.
So if you and the whole family wish to be scared on the most frightful night of the year, go for a drive to the beautiful Village of Czar.  From Highway 41, head west on 49th Avenue, then turn left into the Czar Cultural and Recreation Centre Parking lot.  The building is at the south end of 51st street.
