Swalwell 4-H members weigh steers

This month the Swalwell 4-H beef club started off quite busy but like everything else that came quickly to a halt and we were moved back online!

Weigh-in was on Nov. 22, 2020 at Highway 21 Feeders. We had an early morningof weighing, tagging and processing all of the members’ steers.

They all looked very good and all weighed great. It will be exciting to watch them grow and see how they look in April at the Club Show.

Besides weighin, our members have kept busy with lots of virtual activities.

Two of our senior members participated in virtual YLEAD where they learned how to be great leaders and will now be able to be camp leaders hopefully this summer.

We also had our juniors and a few intermediate kids participate in the Kneehill District Communications Virtual Workshop.

On Dec. 14 we had our first club meeting by Zoom where we all had a practice run at doing impromptus online.

It was definitely a new way of doing it, but it was good practice and went off without any issues.

As December comes to an end some of our members have decided to participate in the province’s Dashing Through December virtual competition where every day we get a new assignment to complete and post online.

Some things have been quite interesting so far.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year, whatever that might be for your family!
