Students key to Christmas gift program

Hockey mom, Tara Geddes and her sons, Jaxson and Lane help sort thousands of gift items collected Nov. 19 at the Seniors Outreach office in Three Hills. The gifts contribute to individual Christmas gift bags for more than 100 Kneehill County grandparents. ECA Review/D.Nadeau

Hockey players, hockey moms, and hockey dads. And soon, many happy Kneehill County grandparents.

Thanks to a county-wide Christmas gift collection drive, the Three Hills based Seniors Outreach group, in co-operation with the Kneehill Chiefs pee wee team, will ensure that more than 100 county grandparents are not forgotten this year.

Everything from blankets and sweet-smelling toiletries to games, books, socks, scarves, candy, and puzzles will be packaged in delivery bags decorated by Linden and Three Hills elementary students, accompanied by student-made Christmas cards.

Now in its fourth year, the Gifts for Grandparents program also involved students in the Three Hills School “Me to We Club” who decorated the collection drop boxes used across the County.

The gift packages, assembled by Seniors Outreach volunteers and Three Hills church members, will be distributed next week in Three Hills, Trochu, Torrington, Wimborne, Carbon, Linden, and Acme.
