The Lakeland Panthers from Bonnyville came to Stettler to take on the Stettler Redcore  Enterprises Storm ladies hockey team on Saturday, January 25.

The first period the teams were evenly matched with many end to end rushes. Stettler opened the scoring less than seven minutes in when Jayden Hogg scored on a feed from Kennidy Fisher. Both teams continued to test the goalies but both were solid and there was no further scoring.

The second period Stettler’s Jessie Anderson scored on a pass from Jayden Hogg and five minutes later Kelsie Litke tapped in a rebound on a shot taken by Morgan Van Dusen. The Storm rounded out the scoring on an odd goal credited to Kennidy Fisher with the assists going to Sarah Mrazek and Jayden Hogg.

There was no scoring in the third.

At the final horn Stettler had a 4 – 0 victory. Lindsey McKinnon faced 19 shots total to earn the shut out.

On Monday January 27 the Storm took to the road to challenge Sherwood Park in the first of a two game total point play-down to see who will represent zone seven in the Female A division at the Hockey Alberta provincials in Okotoks in March.

In a close battle Stettler lost 5 – 4.The goal scorers were Jennifer Hallett, Kelsie Litke, Jayden Hogg and Jessie Anderson. Lindsey McKinnon faced 32 shots in the loss.

Next up the team plays  home and home  against the Irma Aces, then they play the second game of the provincial play downs in Stettler against Sherwood Park.
