Stettler S.W.ATT 2.0 win provincial gold

Stettler S.W.ATT  (Softball with Attitude) U16 team came home with a gold medal after their tournament in Leduc on July 1 – 3.

The Stettler squad, who are only in their first year in the “B” division, came in second in their pool during round-robin play, with a three win, one loss record.

Stettler defeated Olds, the East Central Cobras and Edmonton Royals, with their only loss coming to Central Alberta Impact.

This record allowed the young ladies a chance to play a strong Lacombe team in the semifinals.
Although Stettler fell behind early, they never gave up and came from behind to take a one run victory.

Stettler played the Calgary Warriors in the finals and lead from start to finish for their first provincial championship in the “B” division.

Coach Rick Stotz  was pleased with the girls effort, “Of the six games we played,” he said, “half were decided by two runs. Great defense, excellent pitching and timely hitting which carried us this weekend.”
