Stettler public schools under lockdown

Stettler Elementary School and William E Hay Stettler Secondary Campus (WEHSSC) were placed under lockdown this morning after RCMP notified them of a potential threat.

Following emergency procedures, lockdown protocol was initiated for both schools after the call at approximately 11 a.m.

RCMP officers were on-site at all times to assist with the lockdown.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., parents were notified of the lockdown via School Messenger.

At 12:10 p.m., the RCMP notified the school that the lockdown could be lifted.

During this period of time, staff supervised and supported students.

Students were released for lunch at approximately 12:30 p.m. with afternoon activities resuming at 1:15 p.m.
