Stettler County begins fire restriction

The County of Stettler has a FIRE RESTRICTION in place, effective immediately. We would like to ask our hard-working farmers out in the fields to please take extra measures to ensure they have an operating Fire Extinguisher with them, on their equipment at all times. It seems ‘rock strikes’ are causing a lot of problems in our area this summer.

This Fire Restriction:

1. 1. PROHIBITS the issuance of fire permits and the discharge of all fireworks;
2. ALLOWS burning barrels to be used provided they are covered with a metal mesh screen with openings no larger than 13 mm and;
3. ALLOWS fire pits contained by non-combustible material with a metal mesh screen with openings no larger than 13 mm and;
4. ALLOWS authorized burning at waste transfer sites.

This FIRE RESTRICTION comes into effect August 7, 2018, and will continue until further notice.
