Starland County main office destroyed in early morning fire

In the early morning of Friday, May 25, firefighters were called out to fight a blaze in the Starland County Main Administration Office in Morrin, Ab.. It is not yet known what caused the fire. ECA Review/Submitted

A fire broke out early Friday morning, May 25 at the Main Administrative Office of the Starland County in Morrin. The cause of the fire as not yet been identified.
Posted on the Starland County website states “Due to a fire at the Main Administrative Office in Morrin, Starland County will cease all ongoing operations from that site.
“No injuries were reported and the fire has been contained.
“Please note that all regular road maintenance operations, water and sewer services and all other critical operations of the County are still functioning.
“County staff are working to find a temporary alternative location where regular administrative operations can be set up.
“We ask that all residents and businesses remain patient while we work to set up this alternative location. Some financial functions may be temporarily impacted during this transition period.
Individuals looking to make or receive payment should address their inquiries to or the toll free number listed below.
Please note that the regular Starland County administration number 403-772-3793 is currently inoperable.
Additionally all fax lines as well as the Public Works land line are inoperable.
Starland County has set up a toll free number that will route calls to their appropriate department, 1-866-250-3933.
