Council approved a motion to maintain the FORTIS Alberta Franchise Fee Rate at five per cent during their regular council meeting on September 13, 2012.  At five per cent, the revenue generated in 2013 is estimated at $8,976. The average consumer will pay $2.30 per month, which is $0.11 higher than in 2012. This jump reflects anticipated delivery and daily charge rate increases for electricity.  Every one per cent increase in the fee would generate $1,795 in increased revenue for the Village, but cost the average household $0.45/month. Franchise Fee Rates cannot be increased without proper public notice in the newspaper.

New interim chief administrative officer
