Silbernagel, Anthony Michael “Tony” age 84 of Elnora, Alta. passed away Jan. 1, 2024 at the Three Hills Health Centre.
Tony was born in the Elnora Hospital on Nov. 18, 1939 and raised on the family farm just a few miles north of Elnora.
He married Audrey Pollock in July of 1962, and recently celebrated 61 years together. Tony was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loved his family.
Being a strong man of faith, he had been a church warden and an integral part of St. David’s Anglican Church of Elnora. Tony was also part of the community in many ways,
serving on the hospital board, the school board, and the library board throughout his years living in Elnora.
Thirty-one years of his life was spent as a partner with Mel Craig and Lloyd Cheshire in ownership of Elnora Motors (1974) Ltd. He had attended Elnora School and then went on to take automotive mechanics at SAIT in Calgary. This is where his love of GM started.
He enjoyed camping, travelling to Hawaii, fishing and driving around town in his Kubota tractor when he was not gopher hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Bertha Silbernagel; his brothers Joseph (Mary), Frank, and Aloys; sister-in-law Norma; and his sister Anne (Harold).
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; his daughter Judi, her husband Dale, and family of Didsbury, Alta.; his son Brian, his wife Corrie and family of Frederick, Colorado; and brothers Daniel (Joyce), Peter (Shannon), and sisters-in-law Violet Emsley (Silbernagel) and Ellen Walton; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Fri. Jan. 19, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Elnora Community Centre, Elnora, Alta.
