Shots fired in Coronation

Coronation RCMP received a complaint of a shot being fired at vehicle while passengers were inside at 4 p.m. on Wed. Jan. 31, 2024. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was reported to have returned to his residence.

Coronation RCMP, assisted by Consort RCMP and Provost RCMP, attended the residence and arrested the suspect without incident. Following the arrest, a search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence.

As a result of the search warrant, the following items were seized including a loaded handgun, hunting rifle, two shotguns, one being loaded with the serial number etched off, two knives and ammunition.

As a result of the investigation, Shayden Thomas Rocque (18), a resident of Coronation, was charged with a total of 18 offences, including assault with a weapon (x3); pointing a firearm; discharge with intent; possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose; possession of a firearm knowing it’s unauthorized; mischief under $5000; and failing to comply with order (x6).

Rocque was brought before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody.

He is set to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Feb. 9, 2024.
