David James Shields
June 18, 1955 – November 17, 2021

One more great Cowboy has gone to the greatest Rodeo in the sky.

Dave was born to John and Merna Shields on June 18, 1955 in Cereal, Alta. He passed away just before sunset in Kelowna B.C. on Nov. 17, 2021.

Dave had a heart bigger than his smile. A well respected man, son, husband, father, step-father and friend.

His rodeo career made him more friends then most of us could count, remembering their many faces and names years later.

An amazing mentor to up and coming rodeo youth.

Mourning this tremendous loss are his loving wife Shirleylee; three children, Davey Jr. (Sonya), Dustin (Rachelle) and Sierra; five step-children, Amy (James), Julie (Derek) Shana (Ryan), Bentley and Jolene ( Nick).

Also three grandchildren: Mercedes, Ryder and Bryce; his mother Merna Shields of Hanna, Alta. and extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his father John Shields.

Even though our hearts are broken, we are filled with amazing love and memories and stories of his life and we will remember him forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of his Life will be at a later date in 2022.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Dave Shields Memorial Rodeo Fund, Box 831, Drumheller, Alta., T0J 0Y0.
