Seventy-five attend meeting regarding possible school closures

On Monday, November 5 Brownfield Community School Parent Council held a meeting to address the motion that was made at the Clearview School Division’s board meeting of October 26 by Trustee Peter Simons.  The motion was that the board is considering closure of the following schools Byemoor School, Donalda School and Brownfield Community School.  With at least 75 people in attendance at the meeting there was a presentation made by School Council Chair Darolyn Black and a lengthy question and answer period with Clearview Board chair Ken Checkel along with Board member, Karen Holloway who did their best to answer the questions brought forward.

A committee was formed to speak at the Board meeting that will be held on Thursday, November 15 to give a presentation to the Board.  The Brownfield Community School Foundation announced that it will look after the costs if the group would like to take a bus to Stettler to attend the Board meeting at 2:30 p.m. on the November 15, 2012, which will be held at the Clearview Public School Board office in Stettler.   At this meeting the Board will give further consideration of the aforementioned motion.  This meeting, as all Board meetings, are open to the public.
