Serious collision on Highway 27 North near Three Hills

Update (2:55 p.m., May 5, 2021): 

Three Hills RCMP received a 911 call on May 5, 2021 at 9:54 a.m. of a two vehicle collision on Highway 27 near Range Road 251 in Kneehill County, Alta.

Preliminary investigation indicates a truck travelling eastbound on Highway 27 was struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on Range Road 251.

The lone driver of the truck was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries and the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital by STARS with injuries.

The vehicle passenger was a 78-year-old female from Three Hills, Alta. was declared deceased on scene.

The name of the deceased will not be released.

The RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene to assist in the investigation.

The area of the collision remained restricted to traffic for a period of time until the highway was fully reopened.

No further updates are anticipated.

Three Hills RCMP officers are currently on scene at a two-vehicle collision on Highway 27 near Range Road 251 near Three Hills, Alta.

Eastbound traffic is being re-routed at Range Road 244 and westbound traffic is being re-routed at Range Road 252.

RCMP is advising motorists travelling in the area to expect delays and to choose an alternate route.

Police continue to investigate. No further details are available at this time.
