Sam Richardson named Player of the Year

Sam Richardson, 11, of Brownfield, Ab. was awarded the Mosquito ‘A’ Player of the Year award on Sat. Nov. 17 at the Baseball Alberta Awards banquet in Edmonton by Ernie Whitt, a Toronto Blue Jays legend.

Sam Richardson, 11, of Brownfield, Ab. attended the Baseball Alberta Awards Banquet in Edmonton on Nov. 17 where he received the Mosquito “A” Player of the Year Award.

Richardson played on the Coronation Royals Mosquito “A” Tier 1 Provincial Team that won the silver medal in July 2018.

Ernie Whitt, Toronto Blue Jays Legend and current Manager of the Canadian National Baseball Team, was the keynote speaker at the event.

Whitt also led a catching and hitting clinic. In 2017, Whitt was named to Sportsnet’s list of the Top 40 Greatest Blue Jays of All-Time!

Richardson said that it was an honour to meet Ernie and to learn from him.

Richardson credits his coaches for a successful year.

He can’t wait for the baseball season to begin again in 2019.
