Rural Stettler police chase leads to arrest

With the help of diligent County of Stettler residents, a local person has been charged with a string of rural related crimes in the area.

On May 10 at approximately 7:30 a.m., the RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious male at a property near the town of Stettler.

Police reported that the lone male had left a truck which was determined to be stolen.

The individual later identified as 30-year-old Kyle Grams abandoned the vehicle before moving on foot to another property where he stole an ATV.

Grams then attempted to steal another truck at a third property. He fled into a residence before he was finally arrested by law enforcement.

With the assistance of Bashaw RCMP, Red Deer Police Dog Services and vigilant Stettler County residents, Stettler RCMP arrested Grams of Stettler.

He has been charged with Break and Enter to a Residence, Assault with a Weapon, Theft of Motor Vehicle and other related offences and was remanded into custody.

“Anytime that we can get a prolific property offender in jail that’s a good day,” said Stettler Detachment Staff Sgt. Phil Penny.

Police mentioned that at the time of his arrest, Grams was free on bail from a driving incident in Stettler from earlier this year on April 18.
