It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Ann Roberts, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. Marilyn passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2024 at the Three Hills Hospital at the age of 95.

Marilyn was born in Elnora, Alta. on Oct. 10, 1929, the second child of J.W. (John) and Gladdis Gall. She was born, raised, married and lived most of her life in Elnora.

She took her schooling in Elnora and then proceeded to Olds College for home economics. After graduation she married F.M. (Mac) Roberts, a local farm boy from Elnora.

Her first job in Elnora was working for Mr. Cameron at the drugstore. Later on, she worked at the Kemp & Page grocery store and when it was sold to Sam and Gwen Kidd, she stayed on for many more years with them.

Marilyn was involved in many organizations in Elnora: Elnora Curling Club, Elnora Community Council (later called the Elnora Ag Society), and involved in the Elnora United Church and the local choir.

She was also a big part of the Elnora Flower and Bench Show and a member of the Elnora Legion Branch #42 for over 26 years.

In February of 2018 she moved to the St. Mary’s Lodge in Trochu, Alta. due to ongoing dementia. Marilyn stayed there until Sept. 26, 2024 when she was hospitalized due to being diagnosed with COVID and remained there till her passing.

She is survived by her son Daryl (Jeannette) Roberts, grandson Brock (Caitlin) Roberts, step grandchildren Francine (Troy) Braden, Verlyn Beagle, brother in-law Edward (Tim) Achtymichuk and nieces and nephews Randy (Wanda) Armstrong, Leanne (Mel) Christensen, Stewart (Allison) Gall, Sharon Gall, Barry Achtymichuk, Pam (Warren) Smith and numerous cousins and close friends.

She was predeceased in death by her parents J.W. John (Gladdis) Gall, husband Mac Roberts, daughter Lorrie Roberts, brother David and sister in-law (Kay) Gall, sister Ruth and brother-ln-law (Dennis) Cheek, sister-in-law Dilys Achtymichuk, nephews Murray Gall, Terry Achtymichuk, niece Alana Achtymichuk and grandchildren Jerry and Joey Jewell.

A Come and Go Tea to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Elnora Community Center, Elnora, Alta.

In lieu of flowers if you wish please make donations in Marilyn’s honour to the organizations that she loved: Elnora Ag Society, Elnora Curling Club, Elnora Cemetery, the Elnora Community Church and Choir or the Elnora Legion Branch #42.
