1920 -2016
We pay tribute to the life and times of Doris Mary Ringdahl of Sunnynook, Ab. who passed away at the age of 95 in Hanna, Ab. on Oct. 29, 2016 with family by her side.
Doris was born in Calgary at the Grace Hospital on December 28, 1920. She was the second child to her parents, Robert and Emeline Maud Curry, pioneer homesteaders of the Roselynn District. She was the younger sister to Jim and the older sister of Russell, Farmer and Florence.
In 1952 Doris married Jack Ringdahl of Sunnynook and they had the privilege of spending 58 years together.
They built a ranch and raised a family of three: Ross, Mary Jean, and Judy.
Doris was a “devoted” wife and a kind and thoughtful mother, grandmother and a great grandmother.
In 2001 Doris and Jack bought a retirement condominium in Drumheller but she always enjoyed summer back on the farm best where she could sit in her favourite spot outside in front of the living room window and enjoy the view.
Doris’s hard work was a valued contribution to the Ringdahls, receiving a Century Farm/Ranch award from the province of Alberta and Special Areas 2 for 100 years of land ownership.
Doris moved to Hanna Continuing Care in 2014 where she re-acquainted with old friends and made new ones with her warm personality. Doris was blessed to move up the corporate ladder in 2015 with the arrival of her great grandson.
Doris is survived by her son Ross Ringdahl; daughter Judy (Kevin) Swanson; sister Florence Haynes; son-in-law Brian Oliver; grandchildren Stacy Oliver-Bauereiss (Jared) and great grandson Callan, Travis Oliver, Warren and Ethan Swanson, as well as extended family.
Doris was predeceased by her husband Jack Ringdahl, daughter Mary Jean Oliver, parents Robert and Maud Curry, brothers Jim, Russell and Farmer, and her brother-in-law Gordon Haynes.

A memorial service was held on Sat., Nov. 5, 2016 at the Hanna Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Culham officiating.
