Constance Elizabeth Richardson passed Feb. 5, 2018 at Castor, Ab. at the age of 82.
Constance Elizabeth Richardson (nee Attrell) was born Dec. 29, 1935 at home in Calgary, Ab., the only daughter of Stephen and Helen Attrell. Her schooling was at Rideau Park and Western Canada high school.
In 1958 she married Clayton Richardson in Calgary and to this union were born children Brenda (Larry) Handford, Byron (Susan) Richardson, Barbara “Colleen” (Bret) Taylor and Bernadeen (Grant) Rogers.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Alice Richardson, Doreen Attrell and Cheryl Attrell, along with her husband and four children, including 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by parents Stephen and Helen Attrell, two older brothers, Ken Attrell and Douglas Attrell, and one younger brother, Robert Attrell.
As a single young woman, she was employed at the Calgary Police Court as a stenographer and loved her job interviewing people on behalf of Magistrate Reid.
Once married, she managed a busy home with four children, often alone while Clayton flew as a pilot.
Clayton and Connie moved from Winnipeg, Manitoba to the farm in Brownfield, Ab. in the spring of 1971 and Connie made the adjustment from city girl to farm wife.
Later, she and Clayton worked with Mission Aviation Fellowship Canada in 1986, 1987, 1989 in East Africa and Angola, then as interim CEO of MAF Canada in Guelph, Ont. in 2005.
In recent years, they called Paintearth Lodge in Castor,Ab. home. There she was surrounded by a host of friends.
Connie cared deeply for people and loved sharing the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. She could regularly be found visiting friends at the hospital, the Lodge or in homes.
She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as friend to everyone who met her.
A Memorial Service in Connie’s honour was held at Brownfield Recreation Centre on Thurs., Feb. 8, 2018 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Al Richardson officiating. The Graveside Service was Thurs., Feb. 8, 2018 at the Fairfield Cemetery, at 10:30 a.m.
