Shirley Anne Reynolds
Feb. 6, 1938 – Jan. 3, 2020

Shirley Anne Reynolds, beloved wife of Gordon E. Reynolds, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Jan. 3, 2020 at the age of 81 years.

Shirley was born to Clyde and Berta Sobey in Ferintosh, Alta. on Feb. 6, 1938.

She and her family moved from Ferintosh to Vermilion where Shirley did most of her schooling and then on to Stettler where, after graduating from high school, Shirley worked as an AGT telephone operator.

It was during this time that a gentleman liked the sound of Shirley’s voice and asked her on a date. This was the beginning of a courtship that would be the love of Shirley’s life.

Shirley and Gordie were married on Jan. 24, 1958.

They spent the first 55 years of their marriage farming together in the Gadsby/Westwoods area, before retiring to Stettler in 2013.

They had two children Cathy and Norman; Shirley loved her life as a wife, mother and homemaker.

She cherished time spent with family and friends and was always up for a game of cards and a visit with any of their many friends that might drop by.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, son Norman, and brother Allan Sobey.

Shirley is survived by her husband Gordie; daughter Cathy Reynolds (Tim Hennig); daughter-in-law Karen Reynolds (Shane Nyuli); grandchildren: Amanda Reynolds, Colton (Trista) Reynolds, and great-grandson Maverick, who was a special delight in the last few months of Shirley’s life.

A memorial service will be held on Tues., Jan. 21, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alta.

Following the service, please join with Shirley’s family for a time of sharing memories and a luncheon by the Fenn Ladies.

Donations in memory of Shirley are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S. or to a charity of your choice c/o Stettler Funeral Home & Crematorium, P.O. Box 1780, Stettler, Alberta T0C 2L0, 403-742-3422, who have been entrusted with the care and funeral arrangements.
