Harvest Real Estate will be providing real estate services to the Town of Hanna after council approved to award the real estate services contract to the company during the regular town council meeting on Tues. Jan. 10.

On Dec. 15, 2022, an RFP was sent out to local realtors on Dec. 15, 2022 and advertised as per the request of council to which only one local real estate person responded.

Harvest Real Estate will be doing the services until a term ending Dec. 31, 2024, after a two-year extension was decided on.

“Before it was a one-year extension but now a two-year term is recommended,” said CAO Kim Neill.

Coun. Sandra Murphy made the motion to approve the contract which was carried unanimously.

Downtown redevelopment project

Plans are being made for the Municipal Planning Committee to sit down with downtown business owners in order to begin the process of setting up a design for a redevelopment project.

Money for the design will be coming from Harvest Sky and there will also be a search for government grant funding in order to have an indication of whether a redevelopment project is possible.

Land use amendment

An amendment to Bylaw 1029-2023 was given a first reading during the meeting.

The amendment is for a rezoning application in order to resolve a piece of land to be able to build a single-family home.

“Administratively we support it,” said CAO Neill.

A public hearing will be scheduled for February.
