Criminal charges against a 19 year-old Castor man on Aug. 10 by Coronation RCMP after a lengthy investigation into a single vehicle collision that killed a 21 year-old man from the Northwest Territories on a range road in Paintearth County near Castor on August 30, 2014. The victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the collision, later died in hospital.
Dylan Blaze Charpentier has been charged with impaired driving causing death, operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over .08 per cent causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death. He will be making his first appearance in Coronation Provincial Court on Oct. 16, 2015.
Mischief to vehicles
Seven vehicle tires have been slashed sometime in the night between Aug. 6 – 7 causing $5000 in damages. Provost RCMP received numerous calls between Provost and Hughenden regarding tires slashed on vehicles and are following up on possible suspect vehicle leads at this time.
Mischief Under $5000
Suspects damaged the lock of the skating rink in Hayter, Alberta between July 31 and August 3 and damaged a shed door. RCMP responded and found that the door had been damaged by suspects attempting to enter the building and the lock had been pried off. Nothing was stolen from inside the building.
Break and Enter and Mischief to Residence
A person or persons broke into a trailer on 56th Avenue in Provost on the evening of July 22 or the morning of July 23 and caused damage to the inside of the house and an antisemitic mark was left in the residence. The damage to the residence is estimated at over $1000.
Mischief Under $5000
The Provost RCMP were called to investigate damage that had occurred at a residence on Railway Ave in Metiskow, Alberta. On July 30 it was reported that a residence had its front door kicked in, damaging the door. Nothing was taken from the residence and there was no one home at the time of the incident. The damage is estimated at under $5000.
Break and Enter, Mischief and Theft from Residence
Provost RCMP were notified of a break and enter, theft and mischief that occurred on July 30 at a residence in Metiskow.
Sometime in the previous three weeks the culprit(s) gained entry by forcing the front door of the residence and caused damage to the inside as well as throwing multiple items around the residence.
A camper was parked outside the residence, which was turned on its side and sustained damage. A number of items were also stolen from the location. The residence was not occupied at the time of the incident. The value of the items taken is estimated to be over $3500 and the camper is no longer usable.
