Racing pigeons come home

Ron Benjamin’s flock of racing pigeons circles above their loft ready to land after a morning exercise session. The Central Alberta Racing Pigeon Club member keeps a few hundred birds, some are racers, and some are breeding stock. The birds are trained to return home first from their home area, then from 50 miles away, and then in additional increments of 50 miles up to 250 miles for yearlings, and longer distances for mature birds.
