Local Elnora resident Anna Mose was celebrated by the community in honour of her being a recipient of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal.

The event was held at the hall on Thurs. Dec. 8 and was organized by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Sharon Wesgate.

“Anna is held in the highest esteem, there isn’t anybody in this community that doesn’t embrace her and thank her for everything that she does. She has been a lifelong resident and she has devoted her life to Elnora.”

During the celebration, many residents came up and shared stories about Mose, and one common term used by many to describe her was the words ‘snow angel.’

“I’ve driven down the street at 11 o’clock at night and Anna is walking down the street with her snow shovel. It doesn’t matter what time of day she’s out there; nobody ever deals with snow on the sidewalk when Anna’s around she is just so dedicated,” said Wesgate.

In order to be a recipient of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal an individual needs to have made a significant contribution to Canada, Alberta, or to a particular region or community and for the people of Elnora no one could be more deserving of the award then Mose.

“It was just a no-brainer that Anna was the best choice from this community,” said Wesgate.

Anna noted while the celebration in Calgary made her nervous she wasn’t nervous at all during the event honouring her in Elnora since she was surrounded by people that she knows and it felt good to be with them.

Being able to help others and the community of Elnora just means so much, said Mose.

“It just feels good that you’re able to help people, it makes their day and it just feels good.”
