Written by ECA Review

John Pearson passed away on the farm that he loved so dearly near Donalda, Alta. on Thurs. July 11, 2019 doing what he knew best living his life as a farmer.

He was on his way to fix the lawnmower.

The memories of John will be cherished by his wife of 40 years Jeanne; son Mark of Calgary; daughter Kim (Stephen Byrne) of Vancouver; brother Dave (Marg) of Camrose; nephews Ryan (Aryon) and Jim (Fran); his Aunt Shirley Soenen of Edmonton; and numerous other relatives and friends.

John was predeceased by his parents Doris and Oscar who would have loved to see much more of the life John led, the family he nurtured and the contributions he made to his community.

John was a man devoted to his family.

He was a self-made farmer who took over the family farm at the young age of 17 after his father passed away.

Over 54 years, he dedicated his life to his passion for sustaining the family farm.

He was acknowledged, along with his family, in 1993 with the Edmonton Northlands Farm Family Award after being nominated by the Donalda and District Agricultural Society.

His participation on numerous boards, non-profit organizations and the Donalda and District Agricultural Society speaks volumes for his love of service to the community.

This complemented his decades of involvement with the Alberta Wheat Pool and the County of Stettler.

He was known as ‘Big John’ with the biggest heart. He is loved dearly by those who had the privilege to know him and will be missed immensely.

John’s family is very grateful for everyone’s kindness and support during this time.

The memorial service is being held at the Donalda Community Hall in Donalda, Alta. on Thurs. July 18 at 11 a.m.
