A long-standing board member on Parkland Regional Library System (PRLS) Deb Smith recently received a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal. Smith represented the Village of Lougheed on the board. From the left , Haley Amendt (Vice President of Library Association of Alberta), Deb Smith (PRLS board), Ron Sheppard (director of PRLS). Deb Smith has been a passionate and vocal advocate for public library services for over 30 years. She was initially employed with a small rural library and realized the impact she could have on the political and advocacy side of the library once appointed to the PRLS board. Deb recently completed 11 years as the board chair, and even as she passes the torch, she continues to build relationships and partnerships to benefit libraries across Alberta. ECA Review/Submitted
