One man arrested, firearms seized in search of Red Deer County residence

A 28-year-old male has been arrested for assault, prohibited possession and unsafe storage of firearms.

Three Hills RCMP gathered intel that the male was prohibited from owning firearms while in possession of multiple firearms following an assault investigation.

On Dec.15 at approximately 8 p.m., Three Hills RCMP executed a search warrant at the male’s residence in a rural area of Red Deer County.

During the search, police seized five firearms (two shotguns and three rifles) and various types of ammunition.

The male was charged with the following offences: Weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization x5, unsafe storage of firearms and assault.

The 28-year-old male was released to appear in Drumheller Provincial Court on Feb. 19, 2021.

No name will be released at this time until charges are sworn in.
