No significant changes to bus routes

Prairie Land Regional Division

There will be no significant changes to the bus routes, reported Prairie Land Regional Division’s Fleet Manager and Head Mechanic Brad Berg to the Prairie Land School Division board of trustees at their last regular meeting on Thurs., June 23.

Most bus routes will stay within the 60 – 70 minute rides, Berg continued, with some being shorter and some around 75 minutes.

The school division also appears to be in good shape for drivers, however Berg said, they are hurting for spare drivers.

The hunt for spare drivers has already begun and will continue throughout the summer months.

J.C. Charyk modernization

Twenty teaching sites will be ready for the start of the school year reported Superintendent Cam McKeage.  McKeage went on to say that both he and Facilities Director Kent Spath took a tour of the school and although, he said, it definitely looks like a construction site, phase two of the modernization was to be completed by the end of June.

Trustee Jada Hill confirmed that the “sensory rooms” (specific rooms designated for students with differing learning abilities) will be a part of the third phase of construction.

Superintendent appointment

An offer to continue in the position of Superintendent of Schools was made to Cam McKeage following an “in-counsel” discussion at the April 28, 2016 board meeting and  approval from the Minister.
