Leona Kathleen (Ling) Nicoll
Sept. 12, 1925 – Jan. 25, 2025

Nicoll
Committed Christian, devoted daughter, lifelong classical music lover, special sister, faithful friend, wonderful wife, valued community volunteer, marvelous mother, amazing aunt, gracious grandmother and great-grandmother: Leona died at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre, four months after celebrating her 99th birthday.
Leona and her husband Francis lived in Stettler from 1957 – 2013. They raised their family of four children there and worked together at Nicoll Flooring & Paint.
They were known for their community activism and giving a helping hand wherever they could. Fittingly, they were named Stettler’s Citizens of the Year in 1999.
A service celebrating the fullness of Leona’s life will be held at Stettler United Church, on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 at 1 p.m. officiated by her niece, Jan Richardson.
The service will be livestreamed and saved as a video at https://hometownmediastettler.ca/category/video/
Following the service, a luncheon will be served by the UCW. Interment at Lake View Cemetery will conclude the day.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Medecins Sans Frontieres, https://www.msf.org/donate; the United Church of Canada https://united-church.ca/donate; or to a congregation of your choice.
