Superintendent Leys along with Trustees Becky Scott, Greg Hayden and Kim Smyth recently attended the Canadian School Boards Association (CSBA) Congress.
Transition work is underway as the new Secretary Treasurer and Communications Coordinator begin their roles with Clearview. Responsibilities and roles within the Central Office have also been shifted to reflect and accommodate this change in staff.
The Central Office team and the four new principals within the Division met to discuss a number of start-up items and have focused on Curriculum/HR/Inclusion areas.
Warren Aspenes, the district principal, will be providing mentorship and working with all Clearview leaders to discuss roles/opportunities and expectations around creating a Professional Growth plan and to ensure constructive work throughout the school year.
Superintendent Leys will be continuing the work initiated on the Stettler Complex. This includes meetings with Alberta Education and Alberta Infrastructure around the new School Planning funding that was announced for Clearview in the 2023-24 Budget.
School Visits and Community Engagement dates have been tentatively planned by Superintendent Leys and the Board. Proposed visits will commence late October, 2023 and continue until the middle of April, 2024.
Clearview has scheduled a Professional Learning Day for Aug. 31, 2023. Clearview believes that professional learning makes a difference for all staff.
The Board recognizes that collaboration, shared inquiry and learning with peers is central to professional learning. This Division-wide Professional Learning Day will focus on First Nations, Metis and Inuit (FNMI) awareness training, Literacy, and Mental Health Literacy and will offer break-out sessions for individual groups.
The Board has approved Clearview’s Governance Work Plan.
Knowledge Keeper Jason Sansregret presented to the Board on Indigenous Awareness. Sansregret will be working closely with Clearview throughout the school year and will be focusing on FNMI topics. The Board looks forward to working with Sansregret to strengthen Division FNMI programming.
