Wide hallways, wide windows, and plenty of wide smiles.
The smiles are free, but the hallways, windows, and the rest of Trochu’s new-to-us 5,000 square foot administration centre started as a gift to the town from Golden Hills School Division.
At the grand opening held on Tues. April 2, Mayor Barry Kletke cut the ribbon, ushering in a new era of service to the community’s 1,058 residents. With the help of town staff, volunteers, a team of contractors and suppliers and $135,000, it took eight months to transform the 40-year-old school division office into the town office, complete with a spacious council chamber.
On hand to enjoy the opening ceremony were community well-wishers and representatives from the Golden Hills School Division and neighbouring municipalities.
The former town office, now sold, was in its previous location for 40 years.
