Neal, Helen Muriel

Helen Muriel Neal (nee Price) was born on the family farm northeast of Fleet on Nov. 2, 1918. She passed away on Aug. 30, 2017 at Heritage House in Stettler, Ab. at the age of 98 years.
She is predeceased by her parents, George and Lillie; sisters, Evelyn and Adeline and brother, Murray; and her husband, Ray; her son, Ross and her daughter, Gladys.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie and her son, Ken; daughter-in-law Tina, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was one of four children born to George and Lillie Price and raised on the family farm northeast of Fleet. She attended the Midvale School.
During her early years she loved to play ball and worked at Wallace’s Department Store.
She married Cecil Carter and Gladys Muriel Carter was born in 1937.
Helen and Gladys moved to Calgary, Ab. and Helen worked in the Crystal Dairy Creamery.
In 1952 she married Ray Neal and moved to the Neal farm and set to work raising their children, Bonnie, Kenneth and Ross.
Helen was always busy with the farm chores and gardening. She also found the time to work at Pearle’s Clothing Store and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Ray and Helen worked that farm together until Ray passed away in 1983. Helen continued to live on the farm until her grandson, Jeff took it over in 2000. She moved to Coronation and lived in a house across the street from Gladys.
She enjoyed her retirement in town. Her time was spent building and framing puzzles. Most of the family have a framed puzzle. She still planted a garden, tended flowers and enjoyed playing cards with the neighbours.
In 2011 she made the move into the Assisted Living in Coronation.
Helen always enjoyed family and friends. She loved to cook and entertain. Her garden and flowers were her pride and joy. Many ribbons were won by Helen at the Coronation Fair.
She loved to create things and worked on all kinds of crafts right up until her death. Helen’s life was long and full of love and laughter.
Funeral services were held in Trinity United Church, Coronation on Thurs., Sept. 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Alwin Maben officiating.
Interment was held at Coronation Cemetery with Carmen Beck, Tracy Reberger, Rick Slemp, Jeff Neal, Kerri McPhee and Krista Aylward serving as pallbearers.
Family and friends gathered back at the church for a time of fellowship and a luncheon by the Coronation Funeral Committee.
