Charles Muhlbeier passed away on May 3, 2017 at Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital, Castor, Ab. at the age of 86 years. Charles was born July 15, 1930 to Annie (Hepp) and Karl Muhlbeier in Castor.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Erma; his children: Randal (Tara), James (Darlene), Donna Muhlbeier, Lorna Muhlbeier, Joyce (Terry) James, Kathrine Muhlbeier (Jason Needham), Teresa (Michael) Yamada; grandchildren: Elisa Nixon, Frazer Muhlbeier, January Muhlbeier (Dan Drysdale), Cora van Zandbergen (Jordan Walker), Tristan van Zandbergen (Candice Godberson), Tiara van Zandbergen, Cade van Zandbergen, Tammy Muhlbeier, Crystal (Dale) Tucker, Alexander Muhlbeier, Brandalynn Muhlbeier, Zachary James (Alicia Gordon), Curtis James, Morgan Yamada (Mackenze Orr), Erin Yamada (Mitchell Helgeland) and Konal Yamada.
He is survived by great grandchildren: Jaxon Muhlbeier, Cohen Muhlbeier, Elexia Tucker, Brooklynn Tucker; sister Julia Gullekson; brother-in-law Pete Migedal; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Frank (Lee) Muhlbeier, sisters: Margaret Muhlbeier, Edith (Nick) Elmer and Violet Migedal and brother-in-law Al Gullekson.
Funeral services were held at Castor Community Hall, May 9 with Rev. Barbara Zimmerman officiating.
Eulogies were given by Jim Muhlbeier and Lorna Muhlbeier; tributes by Joyce James and Brandalynn Muhlbeier; readers were Kathy Muhlbeier and Teresa Yamada.
Cathy Schaffner presented her gift of music along with Rosa Weber and Tiara van Zandbergen along with the Knox United Church Choir as leader of song.
Charlie was laid to rest at Castor Cemetery with honourary pallbearers being the Castor Elk’s and Melvin Hepp, Charlie Schaffner, Alfred Engel, Lou Raina, Tom Bunbury, Fritz Rompfer, Robert Daigle and Clarence Berndt.
Active pallbearers were Frazer Muhlbeier, January Muhlbeier, Alex Muhlbeier, Brandalynn Muhlbeier, Zachary James and Konal Yamada.
Family and friends shared time of fellowship and lunch together in the hall following the service.
