Local Member of Parliament Damien C. Kurek wrapped up his series of 2024 town halls this past week, visiting Provost, Irma and Coronation.
“It’s important to me that I hear from constituents about the issues that concern them,” Kurek said, “and the goal of these town halls is to have that dialogue.”
Kurek kicked off the day’s town halls in Provost, making a quick stop by the council chambers to participate virtually in a Heritage committee meeting that had been called earlier that week, before heading to his town hall. The committee meeting involved grilling the Minister of Canadian Heritage about the bonuses given to CBC executives, despite there being job cuts at the organization.
At all three communities, there was great dialogue about a variety of topics happening in federal politics, including the privilege debate on the SDTC that has paralyzed Parliament for five weeks, the immigration system, mental health, RCMP, among others.
“It was a busy day, but it’s always worth it to be able to connect with the hardworking, passionate people of Battle River—Crowfoot. I always appreciate hearing your thoughts, questions and concerns about the various things happening in our country today.”
Each town hall had a great turnout, and Kurek talked to dozens of constituents over the three town halls. Kurek shared that, “It’s great to see people being passionate about seeing our country change direction.”
