It seems like the only thing that is important any more is climate change and the environment.
Over a week ago it was Donald Trump withdrawing from the Paris Climate Change Agreement that was the big news.
Now our Liberal Government in Canada decided to play cheap politics with this agreement by putting forth this motion: “ That in the opinion of the House, climate change is a global problem that requires a global solution, and that, despite the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Agreement, Canada remains committed to the implementation of the agreement, as it is in the best interest of all Canadians.”
The real purpose of the motion of course was to test the new leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC).
So to avoid being labeled as being anti-environmentalists they supported the motion.
The Paris Agreement is a non-binding agreement, so except for that perception, supporting the
agreement it didn’t mean a lot, as the Paris Agreement had already been ratified. It was just an opportunity for some cheap politics, and of course the real reason for the Liberals to support the Agreement was an excuse to implement the carbon tax.
However having said that, when I found out what had happened, which was several days after the vote I was not a happy camper and believe me my MP had to endure an ear full from me over them supporting this stupid motion.
I go back to the issue I raised in my last column.
Here was an opportunity for someone with profile to have let the world know that real science has proven C02 does not contribute to global warming.
The idea that C02 is the cause of climate change is just fiction but the media, environmentalists and the rest of the usual suspects seem to have convinced the rest of the gullible people in this world otherwise.
I was informed at a meeting the other day that the majority of Canadians, especially the younger generation of Canadians support reducing C02 emissions.
The reason for this of course is that they are only being told one side of the story.
If they were provided with balanced info and were informed that the real reason for climate change is natural solar activity, I think their attitude would be different.
These people want to be environmentally responsible but they are acting out of ignorance.
They are being bombarded with the idea that C02 is a pollutant.
It is not pollution, it is a necessary element for plant growth.
Freeman Dyson who is regarded as one of the worlds most important thinkers says it is true that about 15% of agricultural yields are due to C02 that we have put in the atmosphere and it is just raising the concentration from less than 300 ppm to 400 ppm.
It has been determined that the ideal concentration should be over 1200 ppm.
Responsible environmentalists should be promoting an increase in C02 concentrations, not a decrease.
The left wing environmental movement is trying to build an economy on a carbon free energy industry. In my opinion they are well on the way to destroying the world economy.
Almost all of the western world governments are running large deficits, much of it due to green energy policy.
Ontario for example has become a financial basket case and if Alberta were to elect the NDP for a second term it would be the same.
Andrew Scheer and the CPC had better take a hard look at how they communicate the reason for climate change. The public needs to be informed about the real facts of our changing climate and not be sold the fiction that had been fed to us for the last 20 years or more.
