Mission project close to home

Children, ages six to 12 participated in the Strome Commiunity Church Vacation Bible School July 13-17 in Strome, Ab.    (Submitted)
The Strome Community  Church held their annual week long Vacation Bible School July 13 – 17 for children ages six to 12.
One of the projects for the week was doing a village clean up on Thursday instead of the usual sports activities.
Their efforts were rewarded by the village office with a beautiful Strome bag which constrained a can of pop and a bag of cheesies.
This year the children’s mission project for the week was the Axelsen family.  The children wanted to help support Mrs. Axelsen and her two boys of Stettler, following the recent loss of their father, Colin along with their 10 month old daughter, Madeline.
Some of the children who attend Daysland School knew of Colin through the coaching sports teams when he was teaching in Pigeon Lake.
The children along with the guests who attended our barbeque on the last day were able to raise approximately $450 to help support the Axelson family.
We find our children love to be involved in community projects where they are helping others.
