Misinformation provided

Dear Editor
Attention: Village of Morrin council and CAO Plachner.

In response to the statement made to the ECA Review reporter by CAO Annette Plachner in the article titled ‘Village council may fine former mayor over CCAN’, pg. 8, April 25 issue, that read:

“The CAO stated that when Helton was on village council he voted in favour of having two other village residents remove CCANs from their residential property; councillors also conducted a survey at that time and the majority of Morrin residents opposed CCANs in residential areas”.

I would like to draw your attention to the facts according to the official minutes of the Village of Morrin,

From minutes of the Jan. 20, 2021 regular council meeting of the Village of Morrin with Official Administrator Harold Johnsrude presiding.

6.8) Sea-Cans on Residential Property

• The CAO reported that this has been an ongoing concern ….

• A survey was conducted in the Village ….

• 106 surveys sent – 39 notices received, 44 residents voted, 29 agree, and 15 disagree

• The CAO will forward a letter to the resident for non-compliance requesting removal ….

While I was on council there was no vote nor a resolution passed to have two other village residents remove their Sea Cans.

For information regarding Sea Can discussions, while I was on council, I refer you to the minutes of the following meetings:

• October 16, 2019, November 20, 2019, January 15, 2020 and June 17, 2020.

Any questions, please let me know.

Thank you.
Respectfully,
Howard Helton,
Morrin, Alta.
