The Metiskow Trail ride on Sat. Sept. 16 had 57 people enjoying the warm weather and beautiful countryside. Two horse-drawn wagons with seven people riding in the wagons, one mule rider and the rest were riding horses.
The ride started at the Metiskow Sports ground at 11:20 a.m. and returned at 4:20 p.m., five hours to do 13.5 miles of pasture trails. These trails are from five different land owners and we are so lucky they let us ride through their pasture on this trail ride.
Our youngest rider was four and our oldest was 79 years young! The riders were mainly in a 100 km. radius of Metiskow but we did have a few come a great distance including a couple from Fort Pitt, Sask. and a wagon driver/helper from Chestermere, Alta.
No issues happened on the trail and with the warm weather it was a great day of visiting that ended with a delicious steak supper back at Metiskow hall. Awards were given to young riders, old timers and then general door prizes from Gibson’s, UFA’s Cam from Provost, Provost Pet and Livestock and AB Donkey and Mule Club.
This was our seventh year doing the trail ride and we hope to do another next year on the third Saturday in Sept. 21, 2024.
