Dear Editor,
We sent a letter to Municipal Affairs Minister, the Honourable Ric McIver stating that we have had to use a portable toilet since May 26, 2021 as we cannot flush solids into the sewer system since the backup into our basement, May 8, 2021.
We made him aware that the Village of Morrin has known of the blockage and sagging in the Village’s portion of the line from our property since an inspection report September, 2020.
This was further confirmed in an inspection report we funded and presented to the Village, Sept. 29, 2021.
Also, Minister McIver was made aware that after a number of attempts on our part as well as a number of attempts by our lawyer (all to no avail) to resolve our problem, no cooperation has been forthcoming from the Village.
Quote from Minister McIver: “I appointed Mr. Harold Johnsrude as Official Administrator …… . Mr. Johnsrude is charged with the responsibility to manage the village in a manner that is consistent with legislation and for the good of the community. I understand your frustration with this situation, and the impact this is having on you and your family.
“While I appreciate your concerns, I can only encourage you to continue to raise your concerns directly with the village”.
Ironically, these concerns we are to “continue to raise” have been with the aforementioned Mr. Harold Johnsrude!
One wonders (tongue in cheek) if this would be the Minister’s response if it were he and his family having to use a porta-potti in their backyard?
