Lyster
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dale Robert Lyster of Stettler, Alta on Sun., Oct. 6, 2019 at the age of 68 years.
Dale was born on Apr. 13, 1951 in Lethbridge, Alta., the eldest and only son of Argyll and Jeanne Lyster.
His dad always called him ‘Sonny’.
Dale went to school at the Red Willow School until it burned down in 1962.
He continued his education in Donalda, Alta. and then went on to high school at William E. Hay High School in Stettler.
Dale joined the Dairy 4-H Club and helped his dad on the farm in his spare time growing up.
After high school, Dale went to work on the oil rigs and made many lifelong friends.
Dale married Toni in 1973 and they started their family, welcoming their son Brian, then two daughters, Amber and Ebony.
Following Dale and Toni’s divorce, Dale met Delena Lyle and rounded out their family with the addition of another son, Ryan.
In 1987, Dale went farming with Bill and May Lyle, until Dec. 2015.
Although he was retired, he didn’t sit around.
You could find Dale helping with ‘chores’ like farming, fencing, mowing grass and helping out at the Stettler Auction Mart.
He was always up for a good Tail Creek Mud Bog, stock car racing, trail rides, guiding through the mountains, and chasing the chuckwagon circuit.
He was never one to sit alone and always found someone to tell a good joke to.
Dale always decorated his truck for Easter, Halloween and Christmas.
Dale leaves to mourn his spouse, Anne Donahue of Stettler, Alta., his children, Brian (Tammy) Lyster of Calgary, Alta., Amber Lyster (Aubrey) of Eckville, Alta., Ebony Lyster of Ponoka, Alta. and Ryan (Elesha) Lyle of Eckville, Alta.
Also his stepchildren HollyAnne (Justin) Thibault of Blackfalds and Dennis (Lynn) Ruddick of Vancouver B.C.; and his eight grandchildren.
He will also be sadly missed by his sisters Linda (Guy) Walstrom of Stettler, Alta., Cathie (Doug) Kruger of Stettler, Alta., Karen (Jim) Irvine of Port Alberni, B.C., and Susan Lyster of Stettler, Alta.
Dale was predeceased by his parents, Argyll and Jeanne Lyster, as well as the mothers of his children, Toni Lyster and Delena Lyle.
A celebration of Dale’s life was held at Red Willow Hall, Red Willow, Alta. on Fri., Oct. 11, 2019.
