Lovely AWI event

The 100th Anniversary of Argyle Branch Women’s Institute was a lovely event on June 30, 2013.  Former members Rose Barnes, Gail Gibson, Anne Etherington, Bertha Rands, Margaret Spady, Lila Davidson, all made a special effort to attend.  Lila Davidson’s daughter, Maggie read a poem that Lila had written for the 75th anniversary.
Teagan Rombough preformed a jazz dance as part of the program. Brooke Rombough sang as Curtis Miller played guitar.  Ashley Bishop sang O Canada and then led the audience in a song written by a AWI member from Strathmore. Kayla Ulrich did a Tae Kwan Do demonstraton and between acts members of Argyle branch shared some history.
AWI president, Brenda Wilsie presented Argyle Branch with a certificate for 100 years. Certificates were also received from the Canadian Government and the Provincial Government.
There was also a train full of happy travellers to take the trial run in the passenger car from Alliance to Heisler on June 30.
